Food for Thought by Brother Devin Stephenson.... "What is True Famine?"
Some people think that it has everything to do with food.
We are always talking about making sure that the refridgerator is full, we quickly go and buy food.
Not just some foods, but all foods.
We make sure that we have our vegetables, and our fruits, carbs, etc...
Those things are very important.
Yet, we forget about about what other things that we need.
How many marraiges go through famines.
Think about it, you go through so many ups and downs.
It is guaranteed in marraige to go through tough times.
There is a biblical saying that everyone says which simply states, "To whom much is given, much is required."
Why is it that we don't realize that when we have great ups, great downs must also come.
There must be balance.
So the question must not be, why do we go through?
The question should be how do we prepare for the famine?
We often are prepared to talk about how loving our husband is.
How well our wife cooks.
How gifted our children are.
However...
What about when the husband is being hateful, because he will be.
What about when the wife doesn't want to lift a finger, because there will be times she does not want to.
What about when the children are acting wrong, because they stop being angels at about two years old.
We must begin to prepare for the bad times, KNOWING that they will come.
One thing that we must pay attention to is that the famine will come.
We must begin to prepare for fights by depositing good things.
We must put so much effort into each other that when we begin to fight, we will not want to leave each other because we can hang onto the good things that we have done.
We must keep memories of what we used to do that was great.
That way when people turn around and do something catastrophic, you will not want to leave.
We must begin to keep each other in high esteem.
There are some of us that will love and forgive Oprah and Dr. Phil for everything, but we won't forgive one another.
Why is it that we hold others in higher esteem than we do our better half?
We even put our children before ourselves.
This is crazy.
No wonder we leave one another.
We will be husbands and wives forever.
At least that is the goal.
Yet, we will love our children unconditionally, and throw away those that mean the most to us.
From now on, make sure you deposit everything that you can into every relationship that you have.
That way, no matter what hard times you have, you will always stay close to the ones you love.
God Bless.
